The Woodland Initiatives Network (WIN) is hosted by Small Woods, an organisation with a reputation for encouraging the sustainable management of woodlands and supporting small woodland owners and managers. WIN is supported financially by the Forestry Commission.
There are a large number of initiatives and projects working in a variety of areas to maintain or increase woodland cover and help communities and groups to enjoy woodlands, utilise its resource and prepare for climate change, as well as teaching forestry skills, supporting forestry businesses and working to secure the economic and environmental benefits of trees, woods and forests.
Some of the initiatives and projects operate within organisations, such as local authorities, and others are run independently as not-for-profit companies or charities.
More information is available on the Woodland Initiatives and the work they do through the Woodland Initiatives Register and through our publication Meeting Targets.
This site is a communication tool for the initiatives to help them share information and best practice.
